The bill just recently passed the House of Representatives.  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/va-benefits-bill-to-raise-benefit-payments-for-veterans-passes-house-11989471\"><em>Newsweek <\/em>summarizes the bill\u2019s provisions<\/a> as follows: <\/p>\n<p> The bill would increase Dependency and Indemnity Compensation benefits by 1.5 percent over two years. Those payments are provided by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/department-veterans-affairs\">Department of Veterans Affairs<\/a>\u00a0(VA) to surviving spouses and family members of service members\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/iran-war-live-trump-says-he-couldnt-care-less-about-threats-11640966\">who died in the line of duty<\/a>\u00a0or from service-related conditions.<br \/>It would also raise Special Monthly Compensation payments by $10,000 annually for veterans with the most severe injuries and disabilities who require regular aid and attendance or who have traumatic brain injuries. <\/p>\n<p>The full text of the Act can be read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/house-bill\/6047\/text\">here<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Perhaps, if the Sharri Briley and Eric Edmundson Veterans Benefits Expansion Act becomes law.
