Kennedy Jr. aims<br \/>\nto create, consolidating the functions of many federal health organizations and<br \/>\ncutting significant staff.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2025\/mar\/27\/rfk-jr-health-department-cuts\">The<br \/>\nGuardian reports<\/a>: <\/p>\n<p><em>Robert F Kennedy Jr said the nation\u2019s health agencies will cut 10,000 jobs from their 82,000-person workforce \u2013 an enormous reduction the US health secretary characterized as streamlining federal bureaucracy amid internal resistance to the administration\u2019s agenda.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The cuts announced on Thursday, along with previous restructuring and voluntary buy-outs, mean the Department of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/society\/health\">Health<\/a> and Human Services (HHS) will lose roughly 20,000 workers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Kennedy said the department will also close half of its regional offices and create a new agency called the \u201cadministration for a healthy America\u201d, or AHA<strong>.<\/strong><\/em> <\/p>\n<p>Where are the cuts coming from?\u00a0 The Wall Street Journal (via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advisory.com\/daily-briefing\/2025\/03\/27\/hhs-cuts\">the Advisory Board<\/a>) reports that these cuts include:<\/p>\n<p>3,500 full-time employees from FDA (around 19% of its workforce)2,400 employees from CDC (around 18% of its workforce)1,200 employees from NIH (around 6% of its workforce)300 employees from CMS (around 4% of its workforce)<\/p>\n<p>Job cuts will not affect FDA\u2019s inspectors or drug, medical device, or food reviewers.<\/p>\n<p>The Administration for a Healthy America will combine the following agencies into one entity:<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health<\/strong>The\u00a0<strong>Health Resources and Services Administration<\/strong>The\u00a0<strong>Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration<\/strong>The\u00a0<strong>Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry<\/strong>The\u00a0<strong>National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/about\/news\/hhs-restructuring-doge-fact-sheet.html\">HHS released a fact sheet<\/a> with more details.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a new organization that Robert F.
