That is the question asked by <a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/full\/10.1111\/1475-6773.14625?campaign=wolearlyview\">Andreyeva, Rochford and Marthey (2025)<\/a>.  They use 2011-2019 data from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/brfss\/index.html\">BRFSS<\/a>) to examine outcomes for Americans aged 26\u201354 with at least one child living in the household.  They find that: <\/p>\n<p>Medicaid expansion was associated with a 13.4 percentage point (pp) increase in the probability of reporting any health insurance (<em>p<\/em>\u2009&lt;\u20090.001), an 11.3\u2009pp decline in the probability of reporting a cost barrier (<em>p<\/em>\u2009&lt;\u20090.001), and a 2.4\u2009pp decrease in the probability of reporting days in poor mental health (<em>p<\/em>\u2009=\u20090.028) among low-income parents.
