(2025)<\/a> examines 80 million GitHub commits (2018\u20132024).  The authors trained  neural classifier to spot AI-generated Python functions in the GitHub code.  As one can see below, nearly 1\/3 of code in the US is being written by AI as of the end of 2024. <\/p>\n<p>US: 30.1% Germany: 24.3% France: 23.2% India: 21.6% Russia: 15.4% China: 11.7%<\/p>\n<p>How valuable is the AI-generated code? <\/p>\n<p>\u2026the annual value of AI-assisted coding in the United States at $9.6\u2013$14.4 billion, rising to $64\u2013$96 billion if we assume higher estimates of productivity effects reported by randomized control trials.<\/p>\n<p>Will half of code be generated by AI by the end of 2025 in the US?
