Submissions are now open for KFF Health News\u2019 sixth annual Halloween haiku competition. KFF Health News has been publishing reader-submitted health care haikus for years and is on pins and needles to read how this spooky season inspires you. We want your best scary health care or health policy haiku. We\u2019ll share favorites on our social media channels, and members of our staff will pick the winners, announced on Thursday, Oct. 31.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rules:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submit your haiku to <a href=\"https:\/\/kffhealthnews.org\/contact-haiku\/\">https:\/\/kffhealthnews.org\/contact-haiku\/<\/a> with the link to the related KFF Health News article.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/KFFHealthNews\">KFF Health News<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/californiahealthline\">California Healthline<\/a> on Facebook, and follow @KFFHealthNews on the social platforms <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KFFHealthNews\">X<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/kffhealthnews\/\">Instagram<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@kffhealthnews\">TikTok.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>(Optional) Include your X or Instagram handle in the submission and let us know if it\u2019s OK to give you a shout-out on social media.<\/p>\n<p>Submit your haiku by 5 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 18.<\/p>\n<p>To win, the haiku should meet the following criteria:Follow the format of a haiku (a three-line poem with 17 syllables, written in a 5\/7\/5-syllable count).Contain information related to health care and\/or health policy that follows the scary\/Halloween theme.<\/p>\n<p>Reference a KFF Health News story in the haiku \u2014 as a bonus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prizes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The top three haikus will be announced with a custom comic illustration drawn by staff illustrator Oona Zenda and featured in the <a href=\"https:\/\/kffhealthnews.org\/morning-briefing\/\">KFF Health News Morning Briefing.<\/a> Chief Washington correspondent Julie Rovner will read the grand-prize winner on KFF Health News\u2019 \u201cWhat the Health?\u201d podcast on Oct. 31, and we will give you a shout-out \u2015 or hair-raising scream \u2015 on our social media pages, with the hashtag #HealthCareScare.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>2023 Halloween Haiku Contest Winners<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>2022 Halloween Haiku Contest Winners<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kffhealthnews.org\/about-us\">KFF Health News<\/a> is a national newsroom that produces in-depth journalism about health issues and is one of the core operating programs at KFF\u2014an independent source of health policy research, polling, and journalism.
